A Sharon Bus with registration no YLA-564 XA from Yola, Adamawa State, had an accident along Sade-Darazo highway as a result of burst front tyre, while the vehicle was on high speed, living two people dead and four others in critical conditions.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of Bauchi State Police Command, SP Haruna Mohammed, made this known in a statement issued to newsmen in Bauchi on Wednesday.
Driver of the ill-fated vehicle, Abdulssalam Adamu, is said to be from Yola, in Adamawa state. The statement detailed that the accident occurred as a result of the driver losing control, which made the vehicle to skid off the road and crash into the bush.
The statement further explained that, it was the Police Patrol Team attached to Darazo Division that was contacted, who then rushed to the scene and conveyed the casualties to the Darazo General Hospital.
Those certified dead by a medical doctor were, Sanusi Mohammed, 30, (male) from Potiskum in Yobe State, and one unidentified male passenger.
Other four victims, who sustained serious injuries, include, Barrister Adamu Shu’aibu Daya, Barrister Abdurahman Mustapha, Abubakar Sulaiman and Mohd Aiyuba – all from Potiskum, Yobe State. These were admitted into the hospital and are responding to treatment.
Meanwhile, the corpses of the dead have been deposited at the mortuary for postmortem, and efforts are being intensified to trace their relatives.
