DPO calls for support and cooperation to security agents in Bauchi

Outgoing DPO in-charge of Bauchi Township Police Station, CSP Danlami Garba, has called on residents of Bauchi metropolis to sustain their support and cooperation to the security agents around them to enable them protect lives and property of the people.

He made the call in his office during the Presentation of Awards and Farewell Gifts by the Anti-Social Vices Committee of Kofar Dumi and the Police Public Relations Committee in Bauchi.

The DPO said, it’s only by doing so that the security operatives can be able to effectively fight crimes in the state and the society.

According to him, he was posted to Delta state Station from where he had been transferred, when most parts of Bauchi was facing security challenges, citing examples with Kofar Dumi, which was well known for Sara Suka, Bakin Kura, hard drugs business, Kofar Wambai, blockage of roads during crises and, Yakubu Wanka, which was well known for communal crises among rival groups in the area.

He stressed further that with the formation of “neighborhood watch” and anti-social committees in the state metropolis, the menace was reduced drastically.

Speaking earlier, chairman of the Police Public Relations Committee, who is also the chairman of Anti-Social Vices Committee in Bauchi, Malam Abdullahi Ali, said their visit was to show appreciation to the DPO for his support and cooperation throughout his stay in Bauchi.

Ali said the committee had succeeded in supporting Police and other security agents in the state towards making the major security challenge of Sara Suka a history.

In a vote of thanks, the ward head of Kandahar, Alhaji Babangida Muhammad, said residents of Bauchi metropolis have benefitted immensely from the DPO’s initiatives of fighting crimes among youths, which has brought to the end of (the notorious) Sara Suka and other social vices in the metropolis.

He prayed for the DPO in his future endeavors; assured him of their continued support through prayers so as to succeed in his new place of assignment.
