Mini Stadium To Be Constructed In Kanam LGA Of Plateau State – Sports Minister

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung, has announced Federal Government’s plans to construct a mini-stadium within Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State, noting that the proposal is already captured in the 2017 Budget.

He assured that the stadium will no doubt boost sporting activities in the area as well as spur discovery of new talents, hoping that within a short period, talents would be identified, nurtured and harvested, for the glory of the nation.

The director of press, Federal Ministry of Youths and Sport Development, Onyebuchi Nnorom, in a statement noted that Dalung made the revelation during the Sallah break when he paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Kanam, His Royal Highness Alhaji Babangida Mu’azo Mohammed in his Palace at the Kanam Emirate Council, Plateau State.

The statement added that the minister, thereafter, requested the Emir to urgently provide land where the Mini Stadium would be cited, as the procurement process has almost been concluded.  “My appeal to you is to provide the land for the citing of the Mini-Stadium within a month or two, as procurement process is almost concluded.

“The present administration will continue to provide avenues for the youth to be constructively engaged, and eradicate boredom and vices.”

The minister further congratulated the Emir on his successful completion of the Ramadan Fast and for exhibiting exemplary leadership in handling the affairs of the Emirate Council.

In his remarks, the Emir of Kanam, Alhaji Mohammed, commended the Minister for his symbolic visit and expressed happiness over his pledge for a Mini-Stadium in Kanam; promising to expedite action on provision of the required land space.

He also commended the Administration of President Muhammadu Buhari for combating Boko Haram and curtailing further spread of insurgency in the country.
