Desired to rejuvenate the company and launch back strongly to the “good old days,” the management of New Nigerian Newspapers has confirmed the appointment of Jacob Onjewu Dickson as its Online Editor, who is himself an online guru.
In a letter addressed to Dickson and titled: ‘Confirmation of Appointment,’ and signed by Assistant Personnel Manager, Amina Saidu, stated that “The decision was imbued by the dedication, competence and hard work you brought to bear in the performance of your duties when you were acting in that position.”
Reacting to the confirmation, NUJ-NNN Chapel chairman, Mr. Benedict Sunday, lauded the efforts of the New Nigerian management in boosting the morale of the Editor for effective performance, stressing that New Nigeria’s decision was “timely” and “purposeful.”
“We are seeing a lot of changes and all Editorial Staff of the company are now proud to be working there, up and doing. We are beginning to set the pace in Northern Nigeria, just like we did in the past, and reclaiming our ‘number one’ spot as the darling of the North and the voice of truth for Nigerians,” he added.
Though hesitant to make comments when contacted, the Online Editor, however, said “We must keep working hard.”
Dickson’s confirmation took effect from 17th July, 2017, after serving as Acting Online Editor from 23rd of March to 16th July, 2017. He takes over from Abdulazeez Kadir, who is on a two years’ leave, to serve as Head of News, Liberty TV and Radio.
