PLATEAU STATE: Bukuru Cattle Traders call for restraint after recent attacks in Plateau

Following recent attacks with heightened tensions in parts of Plateau state, a call has been made by Bukuru Cattle Traders Association of Nigeria, Plateau State, for Nigerians to remain patient, law abiding and focus, as the federal government has taken steps to curtail the present situation nationwide.

The call was made by chairman of the Association, Alh Bala Muhammed, who disclosed this to Conscience Triumph in Jos recently. He said, “we all know the situation on ground in this country; some people, are not happy with the efforts of the present government because the present government is trying and things have started getting better. But some people are making efforts to destroy the government.”

The chairman commended the act, saying that this country will not divide but would remain united as brothers and sisters, irrespective of religion, tribe or differences.

According to him, they have a cordial relationship with the Igbos, who are their customers from the east. “Sometimes they send money to us and we will load the cows in trailers and send our people to deliver it to them in their various destinations.

“We know that, the Igbos have been long for the agitation of dividing the country by the so-called ‘Biafra.’ ” He observed that “sometimes our people are not taking care of and being maltreated when delivering the cows for them.”

He appealed to his people to always take caution and protect themselves, guard against anything that would destroy or harm them.

Alh Muhammed said if the northern governors will agree to use what they have and build markets for the people, “we have resources, we have food, we have meat, we are feeding them but we, the northerners are neglected.”

Vice chairman of the Association, Dauda Adams Nyoman, in his remarks said “we are not happy with what happened; we have been praying for the peace and unity of this
country, especially now that things are getting better, and call on the government and the people to stop all these threats and become a united country.”
