Kaduna state High Court 4 sitting in Kaduna has granted application to The Union Newspapers and 1Ors.to add Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, as witness on subpoena.
Presiding judge, Justice Mairo A. Muhammed, granted the application during the sitting on Thursday in a case of Defamation involving El-Rufai’s Assets Declaration filed by El-Rufai since 2015.
Earlier, Counsel to The Union Newspapers, J.N. Egwuonwu (SAN), represented by Barr Abuul Hiifan Andrew, filed an application seeking to amend defendant’s list of witnesses and list of documents to be relied upon.
When moved and argued, the application was unchallenged or unopposed by Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s Counsel, and same was granted by the court.
In an interview at the end of the proceedings on Thursday with the learned Counsel, Barr Abuul Andrew, who appeared for the Applicants, said “The matter today was adjourned for defence; however, we filed an application to amend our list of witnesses and the list of documents to be relied upon as well as to Subpoena.
“One of such witnesses we intend to add as a witness is the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, on subpoena, and I thank God the application was unopposed and same was granted,” he stated.
Barr Andrew also stated, “We amended our list of witnesses to bring in more witnesses and tender more documents in the custody of the CCB on subpoena. The matter was adjourned to the 7th November, 2017, for defence.”
