Determined to contribute its quota to national building through prayers, the Deeper Life Bible Church, Kaduna region, has held a prayer session for God to take control of the country in the area of peace, hardships and corruption.
The church, last Sunday, congregated at the Palace of Amb. Muhammad Arigbabuwo, who is chairman of Yoruba Council of Obas in the 19 northern states and Abuja, where the prayer session took place for hours, saying that “only when there is peace in the country that Nigeria as a country and its peoples can progress.”
The church, while praying against what it calls ‘evil opposition – capable of destabilizing the country’s polity,’ preached for fear of God to reign in the hearts of the country’s leadership.
Led by Pastor Columbus Okpara, church members numbering 30 also prayed to God to grant state governors the strength, wisdom, knowledge, understanding and ability to manage meager resources allocated to them.
“May God use Nigerian government leaders as agents of change,” Okpara prayed, even as they also prayed for law makers to “make laws that the fear of God may triumph in their minds.”
Speaking further, on what prompted their prayers, the Kaduna leading pastor of Deeper Life Church, Pastor Columbus Okpara, said the country is going through hard times, and as such, there was the need to assist the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari with prayers to revive the country.
He noted that “Corruption is not a new thing,” adding that “when God created man, they sinned against Him, and it makes man corrupt.”
He added that religious leaders were supporting government in the fight against corruption. “As we are partners in progress with government, we preach the Word of God and then tell people to change their bad attitudes, repent from their sins and submit their life to God by turning a new life.”
In his remarks, the Chairman, Arigbabuwo, however thanked the church for been an agent of change, saying that their commitment and dedication to national building through prayers is paying off.
“On behalf of the entire Obas in the northern part of Nigeria, I appreciate your effort and the prayers. I am glad that you prayed for the President for God to grant him good health to rule Nigeria successfully,” said chairman.
