NUPENG secretary faults illegal marketers for hike in petrol price

By Christiana Gokyo, Jos

The National Secretary of NUPENG, who is also National Coordinator of Buhari Campaign Organization, BCO, Alh Danladi Pasali, has said that the rate of consumption in Nigeria of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) used to be between 30 and 33 million caps, but this time it has shot up to 55 caps.

He faulted illegal marketers for siphoning fuel – leading to artificial scarcity – during yuletide season, forcing price and demand to rise above 55 million caps.

He was speaking to Conscience Triumph in Jos, while lamenting the indiscriminate increase on fuel price as a result of season’s demand.

But he was quick in assuring all citizens of ‘surplus supply’ to end petrol queues in the distribution of Premium Motor Spirit across the country.

He condemned the way and manner some people involved in illegal siphoning of PMS, especially in a season like this, where people are travelling to see their loved ones.

Alh Pasali further assured the people of President Muhammadu Buhari’s readiness to tackle the hike in price of premium motor spirit within few weeks.

He explained that, the short supply in PMS and the rise in demand was the handiwork of ‘political detractors,’ who want to play politics with the hike in pump price of the product, in order to punish the populace.
