PLATEAU STATE: Suspected Herders Attack Kwall Village in Bassa LGC

Barely three months, following the attack in Maiyago in Bassa local government council, suspected herders on Sunday night attacked a village in Kwall district of Irigwe chiefdom, leaving one person dead and another injured.

Investigation reveals that, the attack was said to have occurred at about 9pm when unsuspecting villagers were retiring to bed, and villagers claim the attackers were herdsmen.

The Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) ASP Mathias Tyopev, confirmed the story to Conscience Triumph on telephone call, when he said that some people were attacked, while one person lost his life and, another, who was injured, is receiving treatment in a hospital.

He further explained that, on Sunday at about 2100hrs, unknown armed men attacked three people at Dundu-Maiyanga Village of Kwall district of Bassa local government area, during which one Sunday Lale was machete to death, and his brother, Ayuba Lale, sustained various machete cuts on his body and is admitted in a hospital in Kwall, while another of his brothers, Gimba Lale, escaped unhurt.

The PPRO explained further that, the corpse has been evacuated, and efforts were on top gear to track down the perpetrators, while investigation is in progress.

In his reaction, chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattles Breeders Associated, Muhammad Nuru Abdullahi, condemned the act in totality, describing it as an ‘act of criminal conspiracy’ by some highly place political personalities that are benefiting from the cycle of violence.

A statement, signed by Muhammad Nuru Abdullahi and issued to Conscience Triumph in Jos, on Wednesday, indicated that, “this cycle of violence should be handled with all seriousness and with professional method to resolve the dastardly act of brutality.”
