Apparently worried over low performances, Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, has renewed commitment towards capacity building of teachers and other staff of the Commission in the country.
Deputy executive secretary of the Commission, Dr. Yakubu Gambo, stated this after an expanded management retreat for officers on grade levels 15 and 17 in Kaduna.
He said the UBEC has designed various capacity building training programmes for the Commission’s staff to improve their performance at all levels.
Dr Gambo also stressed the need for the establishment of UBEC’s state and zonal offices across the country to ease the operation of the organisation.
In a lecture, former director for Quality Assurance Department of UBEC, Alhaji Jibo Abdullah, decried the poor quality of education in some state of the federation. He also called for proper funding of the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, to encourage capacity building of school teachers.
